NFL Week 11 (Part 2)

I knew the Panthers sucked. I knew it! Why did I let them suck me in? If you can't beat a Ronnie Brown-less Dolphins team, you have some serious defensive issues.

Anyways, I'm off to a 0-1 start this week so I better make these next 15 picks REALLY good.

DETROIT (-3.5) over Cleveland
It is much easier for me to see Calvin Johnson having a big game here than Muhammad Massaquoi. Enough said.

JACKSONVILLE (-8.5) over Buffalo
The Jaguars have very quietly started off 5-4 this year. If the season ended today, they would have the 7th best record in the AFC, missing the playoffs by a single game. We have to give them some respect, and their remaining schedule is not that challenging. They do have to play Indy and New England in weeks 15 and 16, but the other 5 games are home for Houston, Miami, and Buffalo and @ San Fran, @ Cleveland. Those are all winable games. They could conceivably be 10-6 come January, and with the way the Broncos and Ravens are going, I'm not so sure 10-6 isn't enough for a wild card.

Pittsburgh (-10) over KANSAS CITY
The Steelers are going to erupt in this game. Mark my words. They will get back to the groung attack that has served them well for decades with Mendenhall, and the defense will be all over Cassel from the get-go. I don't think this game is going to be close. It might be over at half time.

Indianapolis (-1) over BALTIMORE
No no no no no! What has this world come to? Is anyone aware of Indianapolis' record this season? Anyone? It's 9-0. They haven't lost yet. At all. Not one time. And we are saying they haven't done enough to warrant a 3 point spread every week? How can we say that after the events of last Sunday night? HOW? I don't understand. I really don't.

NEW YORK GIANTS (-6.5) over Atlanta
I don't know what to think of these teams. Both of them had such high expectations early in the season. Both have stalled terribly of late. And both have had injury problems that remain unresolved. I'm thinking the Giants are more likely to get going than the Falcons. I don't know why...

San Francisco (+6.5) over GREEN BAY
Do we believe in the Packers now? After one game? Not enough for me. I don't see why any of their problems are fixed. Is the offensive line all good now? Is the running game set now? I don't think so. I think 6.5 is far too high.

MINNESOTA (-11) over Seattle
I am tired of picking against Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson. It's that simple. Also, I don't believe in Seattle as a contender.

Washington (+11) over DALLAS
Is this the same Dallas team that lost by double digits to Green Bay last week? Then why are they laying 11 points? Washington is not that bad. They beat a 6-2 team last week (albeit with Chris Simms at the helm) and I can't believe I'm saying this, but.... Jason Campbell is underrated. Ballsy Pick of the Week: WAS 27, DAL 24.

New Orleans (-11.5) over TAMPA BAY
The Saints have not covered the last 3 weeks. And they barely covered against Miami (a game in which they trailed by 600 points in the 2nd quarter) That worries me. They have had a real problem stopping the run. However, in the past 4 games, they have faced the likes of Ronnie Brown/Ricky Williams, Michael Turner, DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart, and Steven Jackson. If that isn't being run through the gauntlet, I don't know what is. This week it's Cadillac Williams/Derrick Ward. Can you say blowout?

Arizona (-9) over ST. LOUIS
Once again, this line means nothing to me. And once again, I feel like this is one of the games that Arizona needs to show up for. The NFC West should be theirs by now, and if they put away these easy divisional games, they will have it sooner rather than later.

NEW ENGLAND (-10) over New York Jets
OOOOOH, I would not want to be the Jets in this game. Not one bit. I wouldn't want to be a Jets player, I wouldn't want to be a Jets coach. I wouldn't want to be a Jets fan, a Jets employee, or a member of the Jets from West Side Story. I can't see how this results in anything but a Patriots blowout. Look at the circumstances. The Patriots are coming off what has to be one of the worst losses in history, based on who it was against, where it was played, how it transpired, and the circumstances surrounding it. The Jets look awful after that great start they had. They have fallen to 4-5. They can't beat anyone who isn't Oakland, and I have no reason to think they are still in the playoff hunt. Also, the Jets talked an awful lot of smack after they beat the Pats back in September, which means we will probably see Brady throwing bombs to moss, late in 4th quarter, up by 38. Do not be surprised.

Cincinnati (-9.5) over OAKLAND
Edward ridiculed me for taking Cleveland (+11) against Baltimore. Granted I lost, but I stand behind that pick and refuse to accept that it was that bad. Well the tables have turned this week. Edward has chosen the Oakland Raiders, yes THOSE Oakland Raiders, to cover in this game. I think this pick is approximately 1 kajillion times worse. The Bengals are going to win the AFC North. It's time for us to accept that. With tiebreakers, they have a 2 game lead over Pittsburgh, and a 3 game lead over Baltimore. And do you want to hear their schedule from here on out? @ Oakland, Vs. Cleveland, Vs. Detroit, @ Minnesota, @ San Diego, Vs. Kansas City, @ NY Jets. At the LEAST, we are looking at 12-4. Maybe even 13-3. This team is very, very good. Oakland is awful. You do the math.

San Diego (-3) over DENVER
Doesn't this situation remind you a lot of week 17 of last year? I know, right? It's sort of uncanny, isn't it?

Philadelphia (-3) over CHICAGO
JAY CUTLER SUCKS!!!!

HOUSTON (-4.5) over Tennessee
Much better game than it would have been 4 weeks ago. Of course, I'm worried about Chris Johnson, but I feel like Houston can counter him with Schaub/Slaton/Moats/Johnson. And if the defense shows up just a bit, they should be able to rattle Vince Young into making some mistakes. Good game though.
